Week 4

Image
This week I was continuing my work that I had assigned myself on my trello. I completed all the modelling and unwrapping that I wanted to, and I'm just finishing off the textures I needed to complete for today. The reason why I fell slightly behind with the textures and am doing them right now instead of modelling my next assets is purely because I wanted to try and get used to using blender more. I want to expand my skillset in different software so I chose to start using blender. Below is a screenshot of my first attempt at texturing in blender. After spending an unprecedented amount of time working out how the interface of blender works, and how to export a texture, I finally exported my textures which I then took into Photoshop and edited. Below are the screenshots of my tips jar and my plant pots. I also completed my texture for my café license as shown below, with my model of my kettle alongside the sofa I modelled. The kettle will be resized as right now it is way too big....

Unwrapping

Whilst unwrapping my plant pots and my tip jar I realised that I should have made a plan into what I should unwrap and how many textures it should take up.  So I broke down each of the sections into 4096 textures. Room essentials: (1 Unwrap) Ceiling (tiling texture) Walls (Tiling textures) Floor (Tiling texture) Windows  Doors Qualification posters: (1 Unwrap) Food hygiene General risk assessment Health and safety Café license First aid Music license Trading license Insurance Fixtures: (1 texture) Sink Lights: hanging/ceiling based Ceiling fan/aircon Radio/speakers Furniture: (1 texture) Table 1 (for 2 seater table) Table 2 (for lounge area) Table 3 (counter top for high seating) Chairs Stools Sofas Countertop: ( 2 textures) Register Card Machine Tip jar Cutlery Mugs/cups Sugar dispenser sachets napkins plates Tea leaves coffee beans (Behind countertop) First aid box. Kitchen appliances: (1 texture) Display fridge Kettle Coffee Machine Decorations:  (2 Textures) Men...

Schedule

Image
Updating my schedule was a task that took longer than I initially thought and has proved some difficulty. I have now fully set up a coherent excel document to show when I set myself a task and when a task is due. This is indicated through the use of O for set and I for due.  I also colour coded this according to my previous post where I mentioned: Yellow:  1 week Purple:  1 week Green:  2 weeks Red:  2 weeks Orange:  2 weeks Blue:  4   weeks Pink:  5 weeks Below should be an attached PNG that displays my schedule for modelling, unwrapping and texturing. I then matched my trello according to this schedule. I realise that I may have been quite hard on myself for the first week, but I will work as best I can to this schedule and try to work on things that are due first. Here is my trello:  https://trello.com/b/AyQTlbde/fmp

Week 3

Image
This week I completed my 3d block out and began following my schedule. I planned my schedule based on the most important things to model and how much time they would take. So by filtering through my updated trello, I used my colour codes to determine how much time I should spend on each item. I found that: Green: Green meant I would spend 1 week modelling and unwrapping the model followed by texturing for a week. Meaning all green tasks should take 2 weeks individually. Blue: Blue meant I should spend 2 weeks modelling and unwrapping along with 2 weeks texturing. So in total spend 4 weeks on Blue tasks. Purple: One week for everything. Pink: 3 weeks modelling ad unwrapping, 2 weeks texturing, meaning 5 weeks in total. Red: 2 weeks for everything. Orange: No modelling or unwrap to do, just designs so that meant I would spend 2 weeks on the texture, to get it looking as good as possible. Yellow: Yellow has such a range that it is difficult to pinpoint how long each thing will take...

Week 2

This week I took on some feedback on my caf é  layout. To some, the lounging area in the top right made no sense, which was understandable and I also had a suggestion to extend the counter all the way to the right wall, and make the shelving area blocked off from the caf é  and to create a door going through to storage behind the counter. Below you can see the new layout of my caf é  design. I understand why these changes were implemented and I do agree with them. However there is still a few things that I want to change such as the size of the café overall as it is now looking to big, more like a coffee shop rather than a small café.  Below is my final café layout. I changed my design to be smaller so that I could fill the space easier. This is exactly how I want the café to feel, small and compact. I need to keep this sense of the café being small, but not small enough for people to disregard going in. I also had to add in some more essential assets into my asset t...

Week 1

Image
Week one of my FMP. My proposal for my final major project is to create a cafe. However, my cafe is an alien cafe, based on a version of earth where aliens inhabited our planet after all humans died out from a deadly plague. It is set in modern day and is a 'plant based cafe'. Although, the meaning 'plant based' seems to have been misunderstood and all that is sold here is plants, normal everyday plants. Not plant based food, just plants in plant pots. I thought adding in this feature would be a fun little implement to give the cafe an unique feel.  I began this section by creating a list of all the assets I would require to make my cafe like any other. This list ranged across a wide variety, starting with smaller items, like cutlery, and ending in bigger assets such as ceiling fans.  Below is said list. Furniture: Kitchen appliances: Fixtures Countertop: Qualification posters: Fixtures: Tables ...
